It was the last day of class and Loki was feeling appropriately melancholy. Okay, no he wasn't but he would, at least, miss teaching students about how much the human race can suck if you let it. Still, he thought he'd be seeing a few of them again so he wasn't too broken up.

"It's time for your final exam!" Loki said exuberantly, clapping his hands and looking smug. "I hope you all prepared because I spent all night typing it up and going over it. It's twenty essay questions, closed book, straight from the memory banks."

It was not.

"So, come up and pick up an exam," he said, gesturing to the thick stacks of paper beside him, "and get started."

It was the class before finals and that, of course, meant that Loki wasn't going to be teaching fuck all today. He was also holding the class just outside the dorms for a very specific reason. Sure, he had a lesson plan but it seemed sort of silly to try and pack something new into people's mind so close to a final.

"So, we're just about done seeing each other on a weekly basis," Loki said, grinning. "I know, I know, I'm sure you're all fucking devastated. I had something planned for this week but I'm being nice and cutting that since we've done a lot already. So, for today, we have water balloons."

Loki nodded to the trash can full of water balloons next to him. "For today, I want you to throw these at each other. We've learned about people sucking ass all semester. Today, just enjoy that people don't always suck. Have fun. Get wet. See you next week for your final."

With that, Loki picked up the first water balloon and chucked it at someone standing close to him.

Loki was sitting behind the desk at the front of the classroom, book open on his lap and focus on said book while the class filed in. It wasn't a good book but it was one of those train wrecks that you can't stop reading till you finished. Still, he did stick a bookmark in when it was time to teach.

"Today," Loki said, getting right into it, "we're going to talk about xenophobes. Some of you might know what that is, some of you might not. Basically, xenophobes are people who dislike or fear that which is different from themselves. It's a very broad subject and, most of the time, it's connotations are negative. When people often think about xenophobes, they think about those who fear or dislike other races. In this school, it might even be a fear or dislike of other species since race is almost a non issue on an island like this."

Well, he hoped it was a non issue but he wasn't going to get into that right yet. "Now, sometimes, xenophobia occurs directly due to something else happening in the person's life. For instance, if you went to war against a group of people that looked a certain way and witnessed atrocities no one should fucking witness, you might come back from that war and react unfavorably to anyone who resembles those you fought in that war. That's xenophobia that's related to PTSD. Xenophobia has and probably always will be present in the world in some of the most horrific ways. On the lowest levels, xenophobes can just discriminate and show extreme prejudice to the target of their xenophobia. On a larger level, genocide might even occur to completely expel the group the xenophobe does not like. It's a fucking awful practice but it's prevalent and it's probably never going to go away. And, unfortunately, it can't really be fucking helped either. You can try and educate people but it's never going to be full proof. It's just...the way the fucking world is."

Which was a sad thing. Loki sighed and shook his head. "For today's activity, I want you to share, if you'd like, some examples you've seen of xenophobia in your culture. There's a lot of different people in here and it'd be helpful to see if things like this differ or stay the same across various worlds."

Loki wasn't usually one for expressing anything girly like relief but he was happy to find that most of his class was intact and those that weren't there had been gone long before the fog occurred. So, he left that serve as his sympathy for the day and moved on. The class was meeting in the Danger Shop today for reasons only Loki knew. Be afraid.

and we have a cut! )

The fog hadn't affected Loki in any other way than pissing him but that was enough for him. If radio had been right, things were going fucking pear shaped and he really didn't want to try and teach a class of rattled kids.

"We were going to talk about xenophobes today and we're still gonna do that but I'm gonna move it to next week when hopefully things here are a little fucking clearer," he said, shaking his head. "I'm not making this a movie day so you guys can do whatever the fuck you want. I'd advise against leaving right away because of the fucking fog but it's not like it's gonna get any better either. So, just use this as a class for what you will. I don't care, I'd just rather not teach when it looks like the fucking fog's gonna swallow the goddamn island."

With that, he took a seat and tried not to look grumpy.

Today's class was probably relevant to every single person's interest so there was no way Loki was going to slack the fuck off even if he wanted to. So, everyone was handwavily notified to come on down to the Danger Shop for class. He waited until everyone came in and took their seats before diving into the lecture.

Loki was looking pretty fucking relaxed, all sprawled out and lounging at the desk while the students filed in. The class today was easy so he had no reason to look anything but. Once everyone arrived and took their seats, Loki started talking.

It was the first class back after Spring Break and Loki looked relaxed and tanned while eating a Pop Tart at the front of the room. He waited till everyone had filed in and settled down before getting up and starting in on the class.

It hadn't escaped Loki that today was supposed to be a fucking midterm but he never liked to really cooperate with anything so why would he fall into that line now? Fuck it, they were going to keep chugging along. Besides, today was a juicy topic. Loki fucking loved when shit started getting real.

Class today was being held in the Danger Shop. Loki knew he could have easily modeled this lesson around something else but the Danger Shop was fun and this lesson proved perfect for this place.

Welcome back to class... )

Loki looked positively gleeful as the students came in and took their seats. It would become evident why he was looking so excited shortly but, for now, he was just grinning like a smug motherfucker.

Once everyone was settled, he stood up and said, "Today we're going to talk about some of the suckiest fucking people in the world. People who are annoying."

and we go on )

Loki was being his usual lazy self when the students started arriving today. The chairs here were just so fucking comfortable that he couldn't help himself. And it gave him a good opportunity to watch everyone filing in and doing their pre-class thing before he got up and started talking.

"Today we're talking about something I'm sure you've all had or wanted to have at one point or another," Loki said, clasping his hands together. "Girlfriends, boyfriends, lovers, and friends with benefits. Hopefully, just from the words alone you can tell the differences but, if not, I'll be helpful."

When the students began filing in, they'd find Loki behind his desk, feet up and magazine open on his lap. He stayed like that until the students settled before standing and getting started.

Loki was sitting on his desk, swinging his legs and waiting for the students to file in and take their seats. He even let them socialize a bit before he hopped up and started talking.

"Welcome back," he said, always polite. "It's good to see so many of you made it back because now we get into the real fun of this course. Last week was just the same ole, same ole. This week, we really find out why people can fucking suck sometimes."

Perpetual lazy ass or not, Loki made damn sure not to be late for his first day of class. Wouldn't want the students they could push him around now even if it was the first class and destined to be a little easier than most other classes.

When the students piled in, Loki was leaning against the desk at the front of room, looking as smug as ever. Once they'd settled, he pushed away from the desk and started talking.

even during the first class, Loki babbles )
