Once again, Bond had the class meet him in an ordinary classroom.

"One important and overlooked survival skill, is back-up. That is making sure that people know were you're going, how long you're expected to be away, and preferably some way of settting up contact if you're going to be in dangerous conditions that might take a turn for the worse when you leat expect it," he explained. Not that he'd ever go off the book. Really he wouldn't. "To demonstrate, we'll be be watching film about just that happening."

Bond had the class meet him deep in the preserve today.

"Good afternoon," he greeted them. "Today we'll be having a more hands on class than last week, and looking at building shelters from materials you might find in the wild."

He pointed to what looked like a large pile of leaves. "This is what's known as a debris hut, a very common form of wilderness shelter." Bond explained. "Hopefully, by the end of the class you'll have learnt the basics of building one." He then went on to explain those basics, as well as how to pick a spot to build in, deconstructing his own hut in the process so they could see how it was put together.

When he finished he turned to the class. "Now, I'd like you all to try your hand at building your own hut, you can work together or alone."

Today the class was meeting in a normal classroom. "Good afternoon, class, I trust today finds you yourselves again," Bond greeted them with all the cheerfulness of someone who'd had the latest bout of Fandom weirdness pass them by.

"Given that not only did we have one of those weekends, but the island has shifted again," he continued. "We'll be having something of an easy lesson this week, watching how one man survives in the Moab desert."

Today the Danger Shop was set up to look like the picturesque Welsh mountain ranges Bond hadn't inflicted on a class in some time. A small table was set up near where Bond was standing, with maps and compasses lying on it.

"The art of orienteering combines both fitness as well as several skills that lend themselves to survival, mostly in the area of navigation," he began once the class had finished arriving. Bond then went on to give a short explanation of the the hows and whys of orienteering for a while before gesturing towards the table. "I've set up several different courses and there are maps for each of them on the table, so you can choose to work together or by yourself for the rest of the class."

Bond had informed his students that today's class would be held in the Danger Shop, where he waited outside to greet them.

"Improvisation," he began. "Improvisation, puzzle-solving, and lateral thinking are three skills that are vital to your continued survival in any given situation. Which is why we'll be working through a series of scenarios today focused on just that. Just remember, if you can't think of something, try everything."

With that he motioned for them to precede him into the Danger Shop. Which should really have been their first warning, given that once the last student entered the door swung shut behind them, leaving Bond on the other side.

Bond had let his class know to come down to the beach for today's class and to wear something they didn't mind getting wet. When they arrived down at the beach, they would have found several
kayaks dragged up above the tide line, and Bond leaning on an oar.

"One of the most important skills needed for survival is teamwork," Bond began. "If you can't trust the people you might be stranded with to watch your back, if only for a while, then you're already dead. Which is why we'll be practising your teamwork skills having a little race today. I want you to find a partner, get your kayak into the water and navigate the course." He pointed out to a series of bouys bobbing out on the water. "The winners will be determined by a combination of speed at finishing the course and lack of mishaps in the process."

"And do remember to put on your vests first."

Bond had handwavily informed the class to meet him at the Danger Shop, which was set up to resemble the edge of the lake, a short way from the Viking village, and to dress appropriately.

"Good afternoon, class. Since I'm seeing mostly new faces, I'm Professor Bond." His smile bore absolutely no resemblance to that of a shark which had just figured out where all the tuna were. None at all. "Now this class is Summer Fitness and Survival, but given our current surroundings we'll put less of an emphasis on the Summer part until we're somewhere warmer.

"Since this is the first week, we'll be doing introductions, in this case name, class, and something you might like to learn or focus on over the next seven weeks, while also practising a valuable survival skill, in this case fishing. Since it's unlikely you'll just randomly have a rod handy at any time you need to fish, we'll be using these." He bent down to pick up something that was most definitely not a fishing rod. The class could probably guess they weren't in the Danger Shop for this class instead of actually at the lake just because Bond was in a generous mood. He went on to explain some basic spear fishing techniques.

"Now, if you'll all take a moment to change before heading into the water," Bond said, nodding towards a collection of extremely fashionable waders in various sizes. "Then we'll begin."
