The various sets and costumes that the class had managed to cobble together over the past few weeks were all set up around the auditorium. But that probably wasn't anything to worry about.

"Yes, yes we know you're more excited about prom, but today? Today is for the stage!" Oh God, he was ramped up, wasn't he?

"Your final performance is coming up soon." No need to sound so cheerful, Cara. "Which means it's time for a dress rehearsal."

Again... there still had not been a script.

"Oh, I'm so excited to see what you have for us," Jaskier said brightly.

Cara just grinned. Bad Cara.

The set and the stage were blocked off a curtain when the class arrived. And a very old fashioned television was pushed out to the forefront.

As one did for a movie day.

"So, change of plans as paint dries," Jaskier said with a vaguely hysterical laugh.

"We're having a movie day," Cara added, just in case they needed that spelled out. Because you never knew. "It'll probably be something vaguely relevant."

"Of course!" Jaskier agreed, pushing play to... the exact same thing he'd shown in the baking class yesterday.

And since Cara hadn't been in that class, she shrugged. "Seems legit."

"Oh no." Which was the time for the stop button to completely break on the old VHS player. Because that's what they were using for comedic reasons.

Today, the stage had wood, tools, paint, and pink foam sheets. Because it was time to let imaginations soar!

Or something like that.

"A set gives you grounding for a play," Jaskier said like he knew a single thing about it beyond 'ooo, pretty!'

"Somehow a painted sheet makes people think you're in a far away land as opposed to a dark hall." It was called willing suspension of disbelief, Cara.

"And what a magical thing it is!" Jaskier added, ignoring the pessimism there. "So, the setting is... here? Maybe? The town perhaps? We've left that up for you all to decide."

Good thing you all knew where this story was going, right. Right? "We're sure you'll come up with something suitable."

There was a new pile of items waiting for the class this week. Yes, again from the lost and found. They were really helping the Moose out there.

"We've neglected some crucial aspects of the theater here," Jaskier said. "That being the little technical details."

"Like, props..." Cara checked her notes. "And lighting?

"Precisely!" Oh, someone was going to be crushed by a light. "So, today we made those key decisions for the show."

"You can either work on props, or set up lighting." Good luck getting it to be anything other than pink, purple, or blue though. "Or both."

"We're so close to a completed project," Jaskier added. "It's terribly exciting."

You know. Other than an actual script or blocking.

Minor details!

Class was back in the auditorium this week.

"After much consideration, we've settled on our cast list. It involved a lot of tough choices." Way to make it sound like there were more than four students in the class, Cara.

"You may now run to check the cast list if you like," Jaskier added graciously. Because clearly that's what they were all just dying to do, right?

The suspense had no doubt been killing them.

After they'd had a chance to check out the cast list, Cara continued "With that it's straight into rehearsals."

"With a bit of dialogue writing," Jaskier suggested. "As we go."

Guys, what even was this play?

An exciting surprise! "So you can really feel ownership of your characters."

And certainly not because Cara and Jaskier hadn't written a single word. Oh no.

"It'll be amazing!" Because enthusiasm helped, right?

Right?

Well, the teachers were ready this week. With notes in hand! What was on those notes? Don't ask.

"A subject for our beautiful play has been discovered by you all," Jaskier said brightly.

Cara also looked cheerful, which was never a good sign. "It's a thrilling tale of adventure, daring and gremlin cats."

Oh no...

"And their plot for revenge on the family Skywalker!" Jaskier added.

Oh yes!

"Will they have their adorable vengeance?" Yes, Cara managed to ask that with a straight face.

"Today will be fleshing out the story a bit, seeing what roles are available... that sort of thing." WHY were your teachers like this? Why?

Because they were the worst, that was why. "After all, we can't all be Skywalker."

Class was meeting in the auditorium again, something about creative juices, which if you asked Cara they'd be more likely to find in a bar.

Which was true, but slightly less academic thsm the auditorium.

"A subject for our great music is one that deserves immense thought behind it," Jaskier said. "It can't just be, say, a collection of poems about cats or something. It had to mean something."

"Or you could just take an already popular story and shove songs in it." Cara, ever the theatre critic.

"I mean, yes. I suppose you could. A historical event. Or perhaps a romance," he added. Putting a lot of spaghetti on the wall there, guys.

"Or the vendetta the gremlins have against the Dean and his family." Why would you put that out in the universe, Cara?

"Oh, now there's an idea!" Jaskier, no.

"I guess that's what we'll use if no one can come up with anything better." Cara, no.
