Nope, Magnus still hadn't figured out how to get the Danger Shop to do exactly what he wanted, but he had--through trial and error and some decent skill checks--gotten it go look a little bit like the dusty badlands outside of Goldcliff.

Score one for him!

"So, I haven't gotten a real battle-wagon to show up here, but we have loads of parts!" Magnus said. Because he wasn't a fucking necromancer and this shit was a little too close to Wonderland for his tastes. "And it's important for us to understand how what we operate works, right?"

He did not expect an answer, but he'd gladly something to the affirmative.

"Still working on that arcane core thing to power it, but I'm sure Taako can order one or two if I bring him enough Starbucks."

He clapped his hands together, rubbing them like he was planning something. "How about we split into teams and at the end of the summer, you kids can race each other."

Oh thank Pan for the safety features here.

For the first class of this session, they were in the Danger Shop. But Magnus still hasn't gotten it working, so... use your imaginations, kids. Maybe listen to the word picture being painted.

"Okay, so this things doesn't know what a battle-wagon is, but that's okay. We can work up to them," Magnus said, squinting at the control panel like maybe if he shoved a robot arm in there it'd work.

Robot arms were his solution for everything.

"My name is Magnus Burnsides and I'll be your teacher for this class. Hi. Hello." He was being super professional right now. "And, um, let's do a round of introductions. And maybe what your experience with vehicles is. That... sounds right."

Look, he wasn't a teacher. He was a big, beefy, fighty boy.

Well, it was the last class of the session... somehow. The summer was just dying by, wasn't it?

"So, we didn't get into vehicle proficiency this time, but if I'm still here next time, we'll get to that!" Magnus said brightly. "I want you all to know that I'm very proud of your progress with the ducks. Very proud."

He nodded to emphasize that and it wasn't even a deception!

"So, how about this class we spend carving one last duck."

Or just a duck butt.
magnusrushesin: (uhh... no?)

This week there was more wood at the front of the class along with saws and wood glue. Because Magnus was switching it up. Keeping you kids on your toes.

"Alright, your ducks are coming along... nicely?" He was indeed rolling a deception check on that. "So we'll start a new project! A bird house. Or maybe a squirrel house. I can't make that choice for you."

Plus, the squirrels were pretty adorable in his estimation.

"Now, I don't expect you to get this done today, so don't rush. Take your time and be careful."

He was super sure he'd get fired if someone lost a finger on his watch.
magnusrushesin: (uhh... no?)

A rather sheepish looking Magnus was at the front of class this week. And he's brought everyone (all three of you) a frappuccino. Because they were fucking amazing.

"Hi, guys. Sorry about missing last week. I sort of... got lost over in the city off the island? Way more confusing to get around than I expected it to be!" Understatement. "But I'm here now and you all had an extra week for your ducks! Let's see where we're at and then we can look into sanding them down and talk about finishes. Sound good?"

Please say yes. He was used to teaching in montage form, okay?
magnusrushesin: (let me roll a charisma check)

The teacher was there just a touch late, rushing in with a cup of coffee from The Park, but not wearing any Ugg boots or leggings. Not because he couldn't pull it off, because he didn't own any.

"Alright, today we're going to see how your ducks are coming along," he said. "I brought more wood in case anyone needs to start over. Or wants to. Ducks can be tricky."

It was the faces. Duck butts were super easy.

"So, let's see where we're at!"

Short and to the point today, kids.

Magnus had once again poked at the Danger Shop to see if he could get it working, but that didn't seem likely.

Sorry, kids.

Now that furniture had been made, he was going with a tried and true beginner project of a carved wooden duck.

"Today we're going to try carving. Please don't stab yourselves in the process?" Pretty Please?

"I got everyone a piece of basswood to work with and a whittling knife. I cannot stress enough that we do not have a cleric here, so don't stab yourself just don't do it."

Simple, right?

Right.

"The project is going to be a duck. Because everyone likes ducks."

Class was in the Danger Shop because Magnus had thought it sounded pretty cool, but then had no idea how to program it, so class was in a big, empty room.

Well, mostly empty room. There were pieces of furniture in various stages of construction along with tools waiting for the kids. All three of 'am.

"Welcome to Woodworking... And other skills I can come up with," he said just a touch anxiously before barreling on ahead as was his wont. "My name is Magnus Burnsides and I'll be your teacher."

That sounded all official, right?

"So... first time teaching. Well, teaching teenagers. I taught a friend to carve a sweet puzzle box for her girlfriend once." Carey's blade skills did not translate over to woodcrafting. "Hopefully you guys have more talent there!"

Roll for an awkward laugh. What? Wrong medium for that? Damn.

Magnus cleared his throat. "So, let's get to introducing ourselves while sanding down some of these pieces."

And it wasn't even fantasy sandpaper!
