Dean was leaning against the desk at the front of the room as the class filed in. On the table behind him was an assortment of pies and drinks.

"So," he began, "today we're talking about the when Fandom weirdness can work for you. And when it does, it can give you some experiences you'll never forget. )

While Dean was grateful that all the various forms of protections on the house had kept it bug free, he still had to walk through town to get to the school and so got more of an earful than he ever wanted. It set his teeth on edge and made him just a little out of sorts when he began today's lecture. "So today we're looking at complications that can come up in the pursuit of dating and/or sex. Specifically the kinds of weird complications that happen in Fandom that don't happen anywhere else. )

"Hey guys," Dean said when everyone had filtered in. "Short class today. I'm going to talk a little bit, and then give you an assignment, and you can then brainstorm, or even take off early if you want.

Today we're focusing on toys. )

When everyone filed in, they saw two large boxes set at the front of the classroom.

Dean was dressed in a priest outfit, and bouncing on his toes just a little. This was one of his favourite topics. )

There was a woman dressed all in black skintight leather standing next to Dean when the class filed in.

"Hi guys," Dean greeted them. "You're all probably wondering who the hot girl beside me is. This, ladies and gentlemen is my Baby. She's also not usually human, but she's always hot. Usually she's my '67 impala, and I have no problem admitting that I love her. If I didn't, she wouldn't be here like this -- last summer there was a weekend here was a weekend where everything people really really loved became human, like my Baby here. As I'm sure some of you have already discovered, that particular brand of Fandom weirdness is happening again. And before any of you ask, yes, she is who I'm referring to in the title of the last class in the syllabus." He grinned. "Not quite as kinky as you all were afraid it was, is it?

"And speaking of the syllabus, today's class is about how to find someone to do all that stuff you wrote down in your lists last week. Today we're going to concentrate on the hooking up part of the class title. )

To say Dean was distracted this week would be like saying the Atlantic was a little wet. But being the teacher meant he couldn't actually blow off class to spend time with his dead mother, so he was present and more or less focused when the class filed in.

"Hi guys," he greeted everyone. "I know that a lot of you are in the middle of freaking out over visits from people who shouldn't be able to visit -- I'm right there with ya, really -- but let's do our best to just buckle down and concentrate for the duration of the class and then we can all get back to our freakouts." He took a deep breath and did his best to take his own advice.

"So last week, we did the introductions and most of you did pretty good imitations of a stoplight," he said, managing a grin. "Which, hopefully, if you get one thing out of this class, it'll be that this stuff is nothing to be embarrassed about.

"To get you started on that, this week we'll be doing what I affectionately call 'The Talk.' )

Dean had taken one look at the yak who was bitch facing at him from the back of the class and fell down laughing. He knew exactly who it was -- he'd recognize those emo bangs anywhere and no one could bitch face like his little brother, no matter what form he was wearing.

Once he got himself back under control, Dean began today's lecture. "So today we're looking at complications that can come up in the pursuit of dating and/or sex. Specifically the kinds of weird complications that happen in Fandom that don't happen anywhere else. )

Dean was looking more than a little under the weather this morning, sporting a pair of dark shades and a slight pallor. He was also, however, dressed in a priest outfit. The two facts had very little to do with each other. )

Dean had handwavily sent an email to everyone, telling them that today's class had been moved to Caritas.

When everyone arrived, they found Dean leaning back against the bar, munching on peanuts and talking to Chuck. He swallowed one last handful of nuts (not dirty) and turned to grin at everyone.  )

[ooc:omg I fail at getting class up at a reasonable time. *headdesk*]

Grissom is in a shockingly jovial mood. He's even rocking a costume and has candy (without bugs) for his students. Must have some good Halloween childhood memories buried somewhere.

Criminology

Here is the study guide for your midterm exam. [it will be an 'essay question', but feel free to study/stress]

To review, in class today I would like you to discuss one thing you have learned in this class so far, and how it either surprised you, or changed your mind in regards to a certain topic. If that is not the case in any aspect, why not?

Death and Dying

Discussion: Your homework was to Choose a death by suicide from Shakespeare's work, and share a short reaction to it. Please do so.

Your midterm exam will be on Wednesday! It will be an in-class essay, in a similar vein to the homework you are turning in. Using what you have learned in class, and moving on to our accidental death chapter, please analyze A Darwin Award Winner or Honourable Mention. You may bring in notes on one 3x5 index card.
