After being stuck in a hole for several weeks, Ignis had been using his past week to make up for lost time and attempt to counteract every single feeling of uselessness and idleness that he had artfully tried to push deep into some sort of hole inside of himself the whole time, and move past it.

At the very least, returning to Insomnia after being indisposed for so long and seeing the state of Noctis's apartment due to his absense had assured him that his absence had made a marked difference somewhere. And now he hoped to get back to the structure of leading a class again, too, to help sort of return that balance of normalcy, of control, of usefulness.

"At long last," he started, with a faint grin to the class, "we can get a proper start on this class now that we're hopefully all here and in an environment where we can all do what we came here to do, and that is, create some incredible food and know how to properly show it off. Now, my apologies for the last few weeks; I'm sure you're all well aware of the fact that several of us were quite...indisposed, but that is the benefit, I suppose, of having two instructors, because I know Prompto here," he gave the other teacher a grateful nod, "rose to the occasion and did a fine job of handling the class solo while I was...gone.

"For those of you who don't know me yet," he offered, "my name is Ignis Scientia, I've taught a few cooking courses here so far, and I will be handling the cooking portion of this class. We'll not waste any more time, as the island's particular quirks have already stolen quite a bit of that from us already, and we'll dive right into our first recipe, which I hope you enjoy, a breaded cutlet with tomato sauce. It is a simple though hearty meal good for bolstering one for the day ahead, and one of my personal favorites, and the true challenge in it will be in how you might choose to present such a simple dish in an intriguing way, but we'll get to that once we actually have food to be plated."

"Look at that! Paintball in person again, folks!

The whole set up wasn't too different from the last semester, but this time around, they were ramping up the difficulty from the jump with less cover than normal.

"Glad to see some returning faces," Tony said with a smile. "Hopefully people won't be as... competitive." Nuts. He meant nuts.

Steve gave him a slightly pitying look at that bit of misplaced optimism. "But we realize you might have some excess...energy...to get rid of this week. So we've provided balloons and paintball guns. Please don't actually injure each other?"

Tony gave certain students A Look for that. Because he believed in you, okay? He believed in you not injuring each other here.

"Five," Steve added because subtlety was not in him. He clapped his hands together. "Okay let's have some good, clean fun!"

Literally none of those things would happen.

Stark was where he was supposed to be for cupcake class today. Aboveground, and in the location he meant to go to, the Home Ec room. So that was a nice change for him after the past few weeks.

He was standing at the front of the room, with a box in front of him on the counter, and a stack of recipes, when everyone arrived.

“I hope,” he said, looking around, “everyone made it here without incident today. No unexpected detours.” And no holes! That was important.

“I missed our first two classes. Unavoidable. I was in the hole.” He glanced towards the door then, as if to reassure himself it was still there. “We’re all out now, and not stuck anywhere else. For the moment. Oh. I’m Stark, if you don’t know me. I think we’ve all met, by now? But introductions might be a good idea anyway. We can do that. And then cupcakes.”

“I thought,” he continued, “something that tastes summery would be good. Something that reminded me of outside but didn’t taste like grass, come on Eric that’s gross. So I have a few recipes. Similar, but not all the same. There’s lemonade in all of them.”

Lemonade Cupcakes
Pink Lemonade Cupcakes
Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes
Raspberry Lemonade Cupcakes

“If you need help, I can help. Or, if you just want to decorate some and not bake today that’s fine. I have some already baked. It’s been a long week. A long month. Maybe you need something easy. That’s fine.”

"We'll talk about the reading I gave you next week," Ender said, meeting everyone on the lawn, under the blue skies. "Today, I'd like to discuss what happened to you these past few weeks."

He sat down, picking up a book. "All those eyes intent on me. Devouring me. What? Only two of you? I thought there were more; many more. So this is hell. I’d never have believed it. You remember all we were told about the torture-chambers, the fire and brimstone, the 'burning marl.' Old wives’ tales! There’s no need for red-hot pokers. Hell is other people!"

He closed the book. "That quote from the play No Exit by the philosopher Jean Paul Sartre has been long-misunderstood," he said. "He's not making some edgy comment about how terrible other people are. Rather, Sartre was reflecting on what it means to be looked at by other people; how as your self, you can be many things, but when you are surrounded by others, trapped by their gaze, they lock you into some version of yourself. You are seen. You are judged. And you are no longer free, because you behave according to that knowledge."

The book found its way onto a blanket, and Ender reached for a bottle of water. "I'm Andrew Skywalker, for those of you I haven't met yet," he said. "This last while, you might have found yourself trapped with others physically underground, or trapped with others in worry above. What was it like?"

Yang honestly sure who was even going to show up for this, since Sidon was the only registered student, but what the hell, being prepared was part of being an adventurer, so she was going to keep prepping for each class.

"Today we're gonna look at what you can, actually, take on the road with you," Yang said cheerfully, dumping a wide variety of bags on the floor of the danger shop. "There's not always a van, or cart, airship, or motorcycle to get you where you need to be. You gotta walk."

Yes, the idea of her baby sister currently walking across a continent was giving her twitches. How could you tell.

"So, ideally, you can only pack what you can carry, and what you can either fight in, or shrug off easily TO fight. You can't be weighed-down if you're chasing someone through the trees. You're going to get picked off."

"First off, you need cookware of some sort, even if it's just a pot or two, portable clean water, and flints to start a fire. You do, actually, have to eat, and you never can carry enough trail rations because they go bad or your trip takes too long or they get ruined. It's just a fact of life. Cultery. Stuff for butchering animals if you hunt. A guide to plants you can actually eat. Hygeine products, extra clothes for appropriate weather... it WILL rain on you. Or snow. Or be five thousand degrees. Sometimes all in the same day, depending on where you are. EXTRA SHOES, if you're a biped that uses shoes, and socks, and insoles. SO important, because you are walking."

"If you ARE using a motorized vehicle for a bit, gas or other power sources. Food for your horse. Weapons. Things to take CARE of your weapons. Ammo, if you have ranged weapons. Money, possibly more than one country's currency if you're going distances. Identity paperwork. Whatever loot you want to keep from that bandit that tried to rob you and got their asses handed to them...it starts adding up fast, even if you have super-strength."

Yang pushed a button, and piles of STUFF started appearing around the Danger Shop. "So grab what you think you need, try to fit it in bags you can carry, and then run a mile. See how you feel at the end of it!"

For her and Sidon, this was absolutely a weight-lifting race. For anyone else who showed up, well, welcome to Packing Tetris, hope you survive the experience.
