All the proper emails, texts, carrier pigeons, whatever, had been sent out to let everyone in the class know that this workshop was definitely going to be a Danger Shop workshop unless otherwise noted, because, as much as both of the instructors felt it was more fun with live steel and everything, it could also get a lot messier, and none of them wanted to deal with that kind of paperwork, plus Amaya liked keeping her 'no body parts lost yet!' credentials as a teacher.

Rosa, meanwhile, was not saying anything about her own current status on that front.

Anyway! When they made it to the Danger Shop, they'd find themselves on a nice grassy knoll outside of a forest, with probably some Ren Faire bullshit going on just beyond the hills, pennants flapping in a faint breeze that sectioned off their training areas, with targets and practice dummies set up, and the two instructors standing by some tables...covered in rocks.

They'll get to that.

Amaya got things going once everyone seemed there and it was getting close to time, anyway. "Welcome to Weapons 101, everyone," she said with a nod. "For those of you a bit new to the class, this will be a very basic overview of a variety of different weapons, how they're used, how they're made, and pretty much anything else about them we find interesting. Which, fair warning, is a lot. I'm your expert in making weapons, Amaya Blackstone, and this here is our expert in using them, Rosa Diaz."

It would seem like a good spot for Rosa to either say hello or wave or even nod, but they weren't getting any of that. Maybe an inclination of her chin. That counted as a greeting, right?

"Today, since this is our first time together, what we'd like to do,"--well, what Amaya would like to do; Rosa, clearly, didn't care--"is go around and get to know who you are, what weapons you might be currently familiar or have some knowledge of using, and if there's any weapon in particular you'd like us to cover. In a sense, you'd be helping us with that, because there are a lot of different weapons we could go over, and just picking a handful for the course is not an easy task.

"So we'll go ahead and get started with you," she gestured to whoever might be standing nearby, "and we'll work our way around, and then we'll get started in on today's weapon!"

Did the classroom need to look like a tavern every time they taught? No. Was it gonna be anyway? Yes. Yes it was.

But this time there were puppies. Puppies everywhere.

Which was why one teacher was on the floor, letting them just crawl all over him. "I love this class so much!"

"I gathered as much when you wrote the outline," Cara said dryly. I'm sure you were all shocked by this.

Magnus popped his head up, cuddling two puppies close to his chest. "I got it all planned out, we start easy and work up to training cats to not shove their butts in your face."

The impossible dream.

"Have you ever even met a cat, Magnus?" Sincere question there. "We're starting with puppies because they're simple, eager, and easy to please."

Much like one of your teachers.

"I've named this lil' guy Chortles. And this one Kevin," he said proudly. "So everyone pick a puppy and learn the secret language of trust."

Via petting.

Cupcake class was meeting in the Home Ec room as it had so many years ago. Where else would you hold a class on cupcakes? Besides, perhaps at Jeff, God of Biscuits but field trips were for later. Definitely not for the first day.

At the front of the room was an array of unfrosted cupcakes (not muffins!) in various flavors. There were also small containers of frosting, some food coloring, and an assortment of sprinkles and small candies.

Behind the food was an alien, smiling only somewhat nervously at the class. It had been a long time since he did anything like this. “Welcome to ‘In Space No One Can Give You Chocolate and Other Problems Solved by Cupcakes',” Stark said. “I’m Stark.” Hopefully they’d all figured that out by how he was at the front of the room and was listed as the teacher, but you never knew. This was Fandom and the odds were high that someone might be in the class without having signed up for it.

“Today I thought we would start with something easy. Not really solving any problems today. Unless you’re hungry. That one we can solve. Or you need a cupcake. Something fun. Something you can eat without having to wait for it to bake and cool. So,” he waved his hand at the things in front of him. “We will decorate.” He paused. “And eat, if you want.” If you didn’t want to eat cupcakes he wasn’t really sure why you would be here but he would try his best not to judge. Much.

"So, grab some supplies. Introduce yourselves, if you like. And enjoy."

[It has been YEARS since I made a post bear with me while I slowly put up OCD oh man this is weird, friends]
