Josh was talking quietly with a blonde woman and a dark haired man at the front of the classroom as the students arrived. He'd even offered the guests coffee (which Gert had fetched) because that's the nice guy Josh was, provided he didn't actually have to do anything.

"Hey everyone," he said when the students arrived. "I know you're all currently dreaming of Bali, but I wanted to show you that attending a school where you're taught baking by a giant pink pony and your hypothetical future children leap through portals to stop by for a weekend won't kill you politically. Meet Peter Wiggin and Natalie Adams, or if you already know them, say hello again. Peter dropped out of school here and is now running his version of Earth with the capabale assistance of Natalie, and they're both here to tell you a bit about their jobs and if they have a motorcade and their own airplane. You know, important stuff."

He led the class in applause, then took a seat in one of the student desks.

Herc had been putting off this class, but, well, considering last weekend. "Right, so," he said briskly. "Most of you, I imagine, have family of one sort or another, or close friends, maybe. Someone you care about. And when you get famous, things can be tricky with them. Maybe they think you've changed. Maybe you don't know how to relate to them any more. Maybe they get dragged into the spotlight with you, and they're not comfortable with that--or they're more comfortable with it than you are, and it makes things rough between you. So how do you deal with that?" No, really, he was asking. It wasn't like he'd ever been any good at it. He opened the table to the room with a simple, "Discuss."

"Today," Thor said, once the students had taken their seats. "I'd like to talk to you about teamwork. Sometimes, a quest is a solitary mission, but other times, you will be with a group of like-minded individuals, working together to achieve your goal. Indeed, many of my most memorable adventures have been as part of a team, whether it was with the Lady Sif and the Warriors Three back home in Asgard, or the Avengers here in Midgard.

The important thing about working with a team is that every member has their strengths and weaknesses, and a good team will work together to balance those out. For example, one of my strengths is often- my strength. But if a battle plan involves misdirection and trickery, I am not the one to turn to."

"So!" he clapped his hands. "Discuss with each other. What are the strengths you could lend to a team in a hypothetical battle? While trekking across unfamiliar territory? Negotiating with potentially hostile beings? Are your particular skills useful in some situations, but less so in others?"

When the class arrived, Mindy was sitting on the desk at the front of the room, looking chipper.

"Hello," she greeted them. "Today's a fun day. We're learning about urinary tract infections."

Mindy had a unique grasp on what constituted fun.

Erica Everywoman was making a reappearance on Mindy's left hand today. She yelped, "It hurts when I pee!"

"That's okay, Erica," Mindy replied to the puppet. "We're going to fix you right up."

She beamed at the class.

Cut for, well, you know. )
