The Danger Shop was set up with various weapon stations as well as a number of crash mats a setting which certainly took no inspiration whatsoever from any dystopian-YA adaptions, at all.

"Good afternoon," Bond said, once the class had arrived. Last week I got an idea of your skills, and it seems we have an interesting range of them, which is the reason for today's exercise. While I am here to teach you, you can also learn from your peers, so today I want you to find a partner and spend the class teaching each other one skill you have that may prove useful in a fight. If you were paying attention last week, try to find someone who knows something you don't, and even if you think you mightn't have any applicable skills, you may find that a fresh set of eyes can see something you take for granted."

"Get started."

Pinkie was wearing her chef's hat and weirdly anthropomorphic oven mitts again for this week's class. There was, in fact, a possibility that she was wearing them still. You probably didn't want her serving up today's baked treat.

Of course, considering the fact that she always served things with her feet, you may just never want her to do that at all.

And this was why pony chefs weren't going to pass basic sanitation standards. This right here. Sorry, Equestria.

Well, what did you want from them? To serve food with their mouths?

"Today we're making--" Whyever did Derek think he would be able to announce the cookie of choice without being shouted over in Pinkie Pie's excitement?

"SNICKERDOODLES!" Pinkie gleed.

Really, he should absolutely have seen that coming. It had all of the makings of a gloriously silly word, and there was little Pinkie loved more in this or any other world than the gloriously silly.

Derek sighed, knowing it was silly of him to have tried. "Yes. That." He wasn't going to encourage this except he inadvertently was. "We have the recipes and ingredients ready for you. Find a partner."

The ingredients were in nondescript, nigh cartoony packages with only simple images on them for labels. But don't worry. It's totally not like any of them were made of people or anything.

"And don't forget your aprons!" Pinkie had a wide selection available, with all sorts of moddable slogans and patterns. "And get baking -- HEE -- SNICKERDOODLES!"

Today class was in the Danger Shop, though McCoy was using it mostly for the adequate floor space. The floor was peppered with CPR practice manikins, each separated by a few feet. He waited until his students filed in, and then began.

"You all probably could have predicted we'd do CPR, even if it hadn't been in the course description. You'll have to forgive a man a little predictability." Wouldn't it be nice if the world were just a bit more predictable in general?

McCoy continued, "CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It's to be used to slow tissue death in the brain by providing a bit of air and circulation when breathing has stopped or is coming in few gasps. As with most things in this course, it is human-centric. Some aliens aren't going to have a comparable process. Some are hardy enough that you can shove their hand in their chest and massage the heart manually. Not recommended." Not that he'd done it himself, but he'd certainly seen it done. Bit alarming, even for a surgeon.

"CPR is sort of a last resort--without it, the patient won't have oxygen getting to the brain and will without a doubt die. CPR isn't incredibly effective, but in a few cases it can allow the body time to snap back. It can also keep someone's brain from dying for a bit until advanced medical help can get there. The latter is the better case, but this is Emergency Medical Situations. You're not always going to have that chance to get to a defibrillator or a respirator or any medical equipment. You may be their only hope to restore circulation."

McCoy got down himself next to a manikin. "I'm going to do a slow demonstration of the process and talk you through it. Pay close attention, because you're going to team up with a partner and assess one another. Each of you will take a turn with the manikin and the other will watch and critique." He did the demonstration talking them through each step slowly. And there were a lot of steps. And a lot of potential disasters.

"Anyone who isn't able to do the resuscitation on their own for whatever reason, your job is no less important." He didn't look at Jeff, but he also didn't not look at Jeff. "You still need to know this. Assume your partner's an untrained bystander, and walk them through the process as your proxy deliberately, carefully, and calmly. Just because you can't get in there and do it yourself doesn't mean you might not save a life. We'll be revisiting CPR later, so don't worry if you're not perfect now. Make sure you work out the kinks with a fake person, first, before you have to use it for real. Any questions at all, you feel free to ask for a demo again. And Mercy's volunteered to be the TA, thanks Mercy if she's here, so that position's been filled."

"Welcome back, all!" Thor greeted the students as they filed in to the classroom. "Today we're going to talk about a skill that is useful for anyone undertaking any sort of journey into unfamiliar territory. Map reading!" with exuberance, he placed a map on each students' desk. "Now, of course, I am informed that most Midgardian portable communication devices possess the ability to generate extremely detailed maps, but what if you are stuck some place where your phone does not work? Knowing how to read a map on paper could mean the difference between acheiving your objective and wandering around hopelessly."

"One of the most important features of the map is the scale which we will pretend the map of Fandom has for conveniences' sake. The scale informs you of the relationship between the distance on the map and the distance on the ground. For example, one centimeter on this map is equal to ten kilometers." Yeah, that's right, Asgardians used metric. "Having an accurate and consistent scale makes it easier for you to make judgements regarding the amount of time you will need to get from one point to another.

Also important for deciphering meaning on a map is the legend which we will again pretend is present on the map. On this map, we have green representing the forested areas, blue for bodies of water, black for school buildings, yellow for the streets, orange for the unoccupied buildings, and black lines denoting where one property ends and another begins.

Thirdly, it can be extremely difficult to use even the most well-appointed of maps if it does not provide us with orientation information. Typically, Midgardian maps will indicate somewhere on the page which direction is 'North', allowing you to orient yourself and determine which direction you will need to take to reach your destination."

This was a lot of talking for someone whose usual approach to things was to just hit it with a hammer. At least he was almost done? "Your assignment for the week is to use your map to help you familiarize yourself with the layout of the island. Try to pay attention to the areas that you may not frequent as often. If you have been a resident here long enough that you feel confident that you know every bit of this island, then challenge yourself by exploring one of the cities on the mainland!"
