Class today was in the Danger Shop... which looked like a casino floor. Yep, Scott was back on his game after last week. Credit that to having plenty of time to think yesterday when he couldn't find his visor or glasses.

"Hey everyone. I figured we'd just go ahead and have some fun today, so I toyed with the shop a little. Welcome to the Summers Casino," Scott said. "You'll all get 100 credits in chips. You can bet them on your own, or you can team up to go for big winnings. And that's where the real fun comes in today."

"The shop will keep track of all your winnings and the top three winning amounts above zero will get special prizes. Whoever brings in the most credits will get an automatic A- for the semester, minimum. You'll be able to raise that grade the rest of the semester, of course, but that will be the lowest grade you can get. Second place will earn a free pass out of any single class period you want, signed by me and available for the rest of the semester. Third place will get an X-Men hat." Scott held up the baseball cap with the X logo on it. It was very snazzy.

"That's enough from me. Go ahead and have some fun."

... Of course, if people payed very close attention to the games, they were the kind of games that took luck to win. The kind of luck that could be carefully programmed not to happen in a controlled environment like this. So there was zero chance of winning anything. The shop was going to cheat at all times, unimpeded by any powers that might be used. Because Scott knew how to program a Danger Room.

... And if they paid close attention to Scott's phrasing, it didn't matter how many chips they ended up with, just how many they won, therefore it would inevitably be a class-wide tie at 0. So, below the threshold for prizes.

Yes, class, Scott blatantly lied to you. You were being taught to pay attention to your surroundings and when to cut your losses in a hopeless situation. Because those chips you started off with? Actually had chocolate inside them. The sooner you recognized the futility, the more chocolate you had.

Real chocolate, too. Not holographic chocolate.

Today, Dean was taking his class out for another field trip, yes. There was a bit of a smile on his face as his students met on the spot on the beach that they'd been handwavily instructed to gather on.

"It's starting to get nice out again," he informed the group. "And I figured it would be a waste to let the fresh air go ignored for the rest of the semester. So today, we're out here to appreciate a little piece of this big, crazy world we're all a part of."

Did that sound appropriately corny? Good. Dean didn't really care.

"So, you can make whatever you want to out of today. Hang out on the beach, go for a walk, anything. But I want two things out of you by the end of the class period. First, I want to see something you picked up off the ground here, that you're going to use in a project later. It could be driftwood, sea glass, a shell or a stone that's caught your eye, or even a piece of garbage that's floated in on the water. And I want you to think about how you're planning on using it. Are you going to make a carving out of the driftwood? Jewelry out of the glass? You've got a week to come up with some creative way to make use of what you pick up here on the beach today. Next week, I want to see what you came up with on your own, in your own time, when you don't have me there telling you how to make it work."

Because Dean was really so pushy about how people in his class put their projects together, truly.

Today in the library, there was... well, a bit of a mess. And Wesley felt bad about that, really, but there wasn't much that could be done when someone had left books all over the floor at some point and he couldn't quite reach from the chair. Not to mention that most of them seemed to belong on shelves that were quite high, really, and he couldn't reach those either.

To make matters worse, just getting to the circulation desk was a bit of a task in and of itself. As it turned out, the library was impressively difficult to navigate in a wheelchair. Who knew?

Zoe had the usual pizzas out for the students, along with some pies as a belated Pi Day present. The apple pie was missing a big piece; Zoe figured it was a small payment to take overall. "Believe it or not, prom is in two weeks," she said, once everyone was settled in. "We need to come up with a theme, and figure out what kinds of decorations to get or make. Past proms have been fairly...odd, so anything could go." If the theme ended up being completely strange, it would at least give people something to talk about.

Arya and Annja were standing in the front of the classroom when the students filed in. The DVD player had been set up and Arya was currently holding onto the DVD case, an eyebrow raised at its description.

Annja smiled and began, as soon as the students settled in. "Since we covered both the Yeti and Sasquatch, we thought today would be perfect to see how filmmakers interpret the legends."

"They certainly take their interpretations to a new level," Arya added, shaking her head in amusement.

"This particular film does take some liberties, I'll give you that," Annja replied.

Arya smiled. "We hope you enjoy the film. I'm sure it will be nothing if not entertaining."
