"Jinkies guys!" ~~Tony~~ Velma said, adjusting what looked like a pair of glasses he found on his way over to the classroom. "We've got a mystery on our hands!"

"Oh, gee," ~~Nathan~~ Daphne added, throwing in something that may or may not have been a swoon as he weaved closer to ... Tyler. "What should we investigate first? The old, haunted mansion? Maybe we should talk to the gardener to find out if he's seen anything!"

Because the creepy gardeners always had the best clues. Really.

"Zoinks!" said ~~Steve~~ Shaggy.

"We're trying to solve the mysterious break-in at the Watergate Hotel!" ~~Tyler~~ Fred explained, then adjusted his neckerchief self-importantly.

Ned was holding a rolling pin (his weapon of choice) and looking cautiously around the room as the club showed up. He'd been hearing about all the bites and, while he knew it had been part of the deal, he wasn't about to let one of those things bite him. He had enough to deal with, thank you.

"Welcome back," he said, still looking around the room. "I'm glad to see everyone's okay and that we all managed to make it through the weekend, long as it was. Of course, we're dealing with some new things now but we're all okay."

Pause for another sweep of the room.

"Okay, today we're going to take it easy considering food still might be a queasy topic for some. We're going to make things in a crock pot today. Now, of course, we probably won't finish most of these since a crock pot is a slow cooker but if you want to leave them on to cook, I'll get someone to check on them overnight and you can come pick up the meals tomorrow. Or you can just experiment using the crock pot. They're really simple to use and they make great food."

Though, Ned was a little worried the smell of food would attract gremlins. Hm. Oh well.

"Have fun and come find me if there are questions."

Jonah waited for the bell today. He didn't want to be interrupted as he was hitting his stride. "Every once in a while, you're going to find that for whatever reason, you have to kill a story. Even after you put in a lot of work, even after you've exhausted your resources, even after you've written the damn thing, your editor will come up to you and tell you that he's not going to run it, write something else, now get out of his office! Or something could come up to make you decide that now is not the time to run with it."

"I don't particularly want to read about zombies this week, so I'm killing your stories just like how SOMEBODY in this class tried to kill me last week! Instead, write something about the big news story this week: gremlin bites! Analysis, recapping who's been what, a quickie interview with a gremlin-bit person, whatever you want. But if anyone writes about my experience on Tuesday, then they get a detention! It's my class, and I get to control the content of the articles so there's no use complaining if you get a detention for that. Oh, and your deadline hasn't changed even though you have to write something different because of my whims. It's due by the end of the class period! Get to work!"

Claudia made it into the library and had picked up a copy of Vogue before the gremlin managed to bite around her feather-covered stiletto heels.

She rubbed her eyes, then narrowed them. "What am I wearing? This will never do for the photoshoot!"

Claudia, who thought she was a Victoria Secret model, was preparing to do a little turn on the catwalk.

The library was open.

When the students came into class, instead of Abby Irene, they'd find Sam and Savannah at the front of the class.

Well... it kind of looked like Savannah... except for the very short shorts, the metal breast plate, red knee boots, bracelets and leather jacket. She even had a metal-type band or something on her head.

"Your teacher wasn't able to be here today so this nice student Sam, and I are going to be filling in for her. I'm Wonder Woman." Of course she was. She looked at the papers in her hand. "Today's lesson was supposed to be on Voice and Sound. Thus, we will be showing the ~~META OF~~ Sleeping Beauty because it has spells and singing in it."

She looked around. There may be a quiz... unless I am called out to save someone."

"Okay," Rikku said, setting down the obligatory donuts and coffee. "Sorry about canceling last week, except I'm not. I mean, zombies, right?"

She started munching on a donut and nodded around the room. "So what've we got?"

Miss Elizabeth Bennet was looking as proper as ever (if somewhat vexed) as she stood in front of the class. The first person to ask her about a brain specialist would most likely receive detention.

"I am pleased to see that all of you have survived our brush with danger, last week," she said solemnly. "For those of you who missed class, rest assured there was nothing terribly important. In the future, if we are under siege, please know that you have my express permission to skip class for your own personal safety."

"One final note," she said, "not related to Dante, translations, or poetry at all: I would like for us to meet in the library next week, and not here."
