The Friz waltzed into class and greeted them cheerfully as she removed her sou'wester, slicker, hip-waders, and rubber boots to reveal a dress covered in sou'westers, slickers, hip-waders, and rubber boots.

"Isn't all this rain absolutely wonderful?" she enthused, bouncing and posing, her friz more frizzy because of all the moisture in the air. "This is the perfect way to kick off our biology unit! We'll be started by studying the wonderfully complex system that is the water cycle! Everyone to the bus!"

[[I swear this was next on the syllabus. OCD coming up. Go forth and learn!]]

Elliot came into class scowling and with very drenched hair. She was carrying a muddy plastic bag with something moving inside of it, and if some of her students looked a little different, it took her most of her lecture to notice it. "So today, we are going to talk about -- first off, why will it not stop raining? And why is it that I can't manage to get a simple order for lab earthworms through the mail? I swear, these conditions ..." she trailed off. "Anyhow, I am supposed to introduce you to the nervous system, which is my personal second-favorite."

She threw up a slide. "The nervous system coordinates the activity of the muscles, watches the organs, constructs and halts input from the senses, and initiates actions. Major parts of the nervous system are the brain, the spinal cord, and the nerves throughout the body. Prominent participants in a nervous system include neurons and nerves, which play roles in such coordination. All kinds of parts of nervous system are made of nervous tissue. There are four kinds of nerves - motor, sensory, afferent nerves and interneurons. And you can divide the nervous system into the somatic nervous system, which is under conscious control, and the autonomic nervous system, which is not."

She ran a hand through her wet hair and continued her lecture before reaching into the wriggly bag. "Your experiment today might seem a little juvenile, but I swear it's fun. Basically you're going to figure out which end of the earthworm is smarter by testing its sensitivity to sound, touch, and smell. Pair up, grab a bottle of rubbing alcohol, and I'll be around with the worms."

Yomiko arrived at the library about halfway through first period and was surprised to find it dark and locked again. What was up with her faithful minions this week?

Daisy was miraculously thus far unaware of the transformations that had happened over night to most of the guys on the island.

She hadn't had her coffee yet, after all.

"Right. So. Last time you guys looked at Poe. Some fine, creepy stuff there. All about death. This week, we're going to look at something a little bit similar. Films based not on written text, but on word-of-mouth. Specifically urban legends. I have two films I have examples from, and many, many more out there. What I want you guys to do, though, is to pick a legend, one you've heard or one from this list, and decide how you would adapt it for a film. What would you change, what would you leave the same? Why do you think these legends persist? What makes them so interesting? What are some themes that you think it'd be important to keep in the movie?"

[ooc: ocd is a-coming up. Meta any actual movie that gets discussed, but I think we're safe on the urban legends themselves, eh?]

"Alright. I hope you've been practicing what I showed you with loosening up the fingers. Because today we're going to turn that into tunes and chords. Chords are how you change the noise your guitar is making. And as most of you should know, the key is up at the neck."

El picked up his guitar. "Now, I want you to watch me closely and repeat on your own guitars."

El went through a variety of hand positions for chords, stopping to make sure each of the students had them before moving on, sometime helping individual students as merited it.

"I want you to practice playing with these with the same intensity you practiced loosening up your fingers. I know you can't practice all day, every day, but practice as much as you can.

Now that we've got that part out of way, I'll teach you a little tune. Something that you can show off to your friends when they ask you why on earth you're taking this class."

El lead them through a short traditional mariachi tune, the kind of thing he tended to play without thinking about it during his office hours.

"Now, I want you all to practice for the rest of the class, but before, two things. First, next class will be in the Danger Shop, where we will start working on building our guitars. Secondly, I need to know how many of you are capable of reading music.

Also, would Miss Stewart come see me?"

With Ami in the clinic, Aziraphale stepped up as club advisor to open the weekly Chess Club meeting. He had all the tables and boards laid out as Ami had done last time, and the two handouts she'd made were also available. Additionally, there were cookies and sodas available on a table in the back of the room.

"Miss Mizuno is not able to be here today, so I hope you'll all be able to take some time to practice and to share, er, playing strategies. And of course, let me know if you have any questions."

He really hoped no one would ask him any questions, though.

[ooc: Putting this up per Ami!mun's request. My own availability is spotty at the moment, so Aziraphale may not be very talkative.]

Instead of Professor Roslin, the students who showed up today would find an obese man in prescription shorts and a t-shirt that really didn't fit him very well. His look of disdain made it clear that he thought he was far too good to be here.

"Your teacher, whomever that may be, is not here today. Instead, you will be exposed to the genius-like vision of me. I am one of the world's foremost experts in the area of space-related fandoms, so you would do well to pay attention and not question me.

Today's lesson is on space-related fiction in all possible media, from the written fiction of Isaac Asimov and his contemporaries to the new Strifenova Celestial television series.

You, the unappreciative, untalented, uneducated masses of the world were supposed to have lists of your favorite science fiction stories, of which I am sure are mainstream, overhyped pieces of badly written fiction not worthy of my attention.

Today you will tell me how the portrayal of space travel in your selection fares, whether it is idealized or realistic. Then I will tell you how wrong you are.

Begin."

Rory was there, in the back, giggling at her computer screen.

She had her cell phone and was prepared to snap pictures of anyone who was not usually female. For posterity.

It was her job, after all.

Even in female form, it wasn't hard to tell it was Hades. For one, it was his office. Then there was the flaming hair thing and lack of dress sense.

"We haven't had one of these in a while. That's because I like drinks with little umbrellas more than any of you. Remember that. The kid with the mask," he said, referring to Valentine, "Is the club leader until I find someone better or he/she/it is dead. Rico's Roughnecks!" He went for the minion that he thought would be easy to manipulate.

Looking completely unfazed by the fact he was now not so much a god as a goddess, Ares addressed the class. "Today's class is on Hades, Lord of the Underworld, and what we on Olympus liked to refer to as a loser."

He leant back against his desk. "Don't be fooled by the whole Vice Principal thing, as gods go, he's pretty much a joke, on his watch dead souls were always escaping, being missorted, taking the place over, and more than that, he was whipped. Seriously whipped. He let his mother-in-law set the terms of his marriage. I mean really, no booty six months out of the year?"

"So today's activity is to dicuss the various ways in which Hades is a loser." He looked around the much more female class and grinned. "Then make out with each other."

[ooc: OCD threads coming up.]
