The Library (05/15)

Rory wandered in and opened the library for the first time in weeks, taking her seat behind the collections desk with a stack of books of her own.



[For les newbies - feel free to have your character come in and check out a book. All the dangerous stuff is located in Special Collections, for which you need a pass. For the oldbies - no OCD threads today since we don't have class periods. Just let me know what time you came in in the subject line or narrative. And Hermione and Willow, as soon as you're both in here, I'll stick up a thread of our own for the SC thing.]

"He's fine," Rory assured her. "He was vamped back in October. Six weeks old. Very bouncy and active and sweet-natured."

"I think he's set, actually. I mean, he's not scary or anything like Angelus was," Rory said. "So maybe he came with a soul. Or maybe he's too little to need one."

"Books?" suggests Hermione, because the thought of vampire puppies makes her sad, and she can't knit anything to help... She doesn't think.

Rory grinned. "Books. Okay, so there are some rules you need to know about SC."

She moved behind the desk and grabbed three pairs of dragonhide gloves. "Rule number one, if they lights go out? Run. Don't wait for me, leave the books. Just run back the way we came. Rule number two, don't touch anything if I tell you not to. Rule number three...don't follow any naked people, no matter how pretty they are. Xander can tell you why not."

She offered the gloves. "Notes can go on the desk."

In addition to books, Willow's bookbag held a few magic items and some stakes and holy water.

"Nope," she assured Rory, smiling. "No problem in an emergency situation."

Hermione wishes she could use her wand right now. "What kind of emergency situation?" she asks, because it's better to be prepared.

"When I first started working here, there was a monk in there who thought we were all, um, ladies of the evening," Rory said delicately. "He was pretty scary. So we might have to run, that kind of thing. Well, and I told you about the dragon. SC's a big ol' mystery."

"Really cute," Willow said. "British. Very courtly in his mannerisms. He pledged to fight stuff in my honor. I gave him a ribbon."
