"Well, I'm awake," Zero grumbled as she came into the library. "Also? Possibly seeking a squalling annulment. What the hell."

"What the hell," Angela echoed, lifting her head from the desk. "A mountie? That makes no sense."

"Seriously, that's like cops bein' able to perform weddings, isn't it? Can cops perform weddings?"

"I don't think so," Angela said. "Unless they can for the same reason judges can. But you would think we would have heard of it, right?"

"Either way, we didn't sign a license. Did you? Isn't that kind of essential?"

"No. So I'm probably not married. Yay!"

Cameron came in after ACJ class, then belatedly realised that he hadn't seen Angela since he'd fought with her. Oops.

"Yo!"

"Yo back," Angela told him. "Didja see the cupcakes last night?"

"I handwavily snagged a few, yeah." Cameron nodded and raised an eyebrow. "The sign was a bit of a cop out, though."

Angela pouted. "Nuh-uh. It had my name on it and everything."

Parker came in after ACJ and gym, looking kind of amazed. "One final to go. Oh. My. God. And are you married? You can't be married."

"We're moving to Chicago and naming the first child Marty junior," Angela said robotically. Then: "NO. I mean, I don't think so. We didn't get a license, plus the age to consent to marriage is 18 in Virginia. I don't think it could have counted."

Parker shook her head. "I wanted to be sure. Fandom, and all. Plus, Mountie. If it would be legal anywhere, you know it would turn out to be here." She cocked her head. "Junior names suck. You should name your first kid Clarence."

"Even if the no-license thing didn't invalidate it? We could file for an annulment," Angela said. "Because I am way too young to get married."

She considered it. "Nah, not Clarence. Or a junior. Maybe after my dad or Marcella." Then, embarassed, "Not like I think about this."

Marty? He considers himself a friend. Well possible husbands should be considered that way in his opinion. So he comes by for lunch.

If the "Friend" thing doesn't count? He's brought sandwiches and chips from J,GOB's.

"Ohhhhh Lucy!" he says in is best Ricky Ricardo voice.

Angela managed a tired smile. "Hi. So I think we're eligible for an annulment," she said.

This may not have been the best way to greet a theoretical possible husband.

"Reeeeeeally?" Marty says in silly voice. "Let me guess... five and six year olds can't marry without a cootie test."

Angela rolled her eyes. "I looked up Virginia marriage law," she said. "We didn't have a license, plus we're both underage and didn't have permission from our parents. So I don't think it counted. Even if it could have, with the mountie, and why can mounties marry people anyhow? Canada is weird."

Angela is not being mawkish over Special Collections. Nope.

Okay, maybe a little...

She's also not going to miss sweeping, wiping off the counter, and otherwise preparing the library for another day, but she does it anyhow.
