BWI Portalocity Lounge [Sunday morning]

While Ramona had seen a lot of things, and traveling by portal hadn't really freaked her out or anything, she still wasn't really feeling great about being here. Maybe making an impulse decision to go to Maryland (of all places) hadn't been her best move.

In any case, though, she was here now, and there wasn't really a reason for her to turn back without giving it at least a day or so. So she lounged against the wall under the sign for Fandom High in the lounge, her bags by her feet as she waited for the shuttle.

Or maybe researched it some more online. Tony could feel his cheeks heat up and he coughed to cover that up oh so well.

Somewhere, another version of him was head-desking at how smooth he was not.

"Do you go... often?" Yeah, he winced at how that sounded too.

And that sort of explained things a little, so he got an arched eyebrow -- the only indication that Ramona was actually surprised. "Really? Why?"

"Ah, my dad pulled me out for homeschooling." Tony pulled out his phone, fiddling with it with the same intensity that Robin Williams used to tell jokes. "And now I have to go again to inherent his company."

Way to make the dumbest clause in your will ever, Howard Stark.

"...that's weird," Ramona said, tilting her head a little and actually putting her phone in her back pocket to give him more of her attention. "You have to go to high school? Why? More world experience or something?"

Tony shrugged, eyes dropping for a moment. "He said he felt guilty about stuff. So, I have to graduate from high school and turn 18 to take control of the company. Even though I'm ten times smarter than half the people there."

It would be him being smug if only it wasn't true.

"The turning 18 part I get," Ramona admitted, softening a little bit. He just seemed sad, and even she wasn't that heartless. "Sucks that you can't take it sooner, though, if you're as smart as you say."

Ramona actually tsked, shaking her head. "And now you've set me up for failure. I mean, maybe this school'll be awesome. Less with the plain cafeteria walls, more with the jetpacks, or something."

Ramona shot him a skeptical look. "Why? What's wrong with a jetpack? It works like a backpack, but jetboots would unbalance you, wouldn't they?"

Tony scooted closer, shaking his head. "You can't steer a jet pack very well. Not without relying on the machine rather than your own movements. Jetboots can be balanced out by adding in gloves with lesser jets in them."

"What if you had a way to steer a jetpack with like, the handles on the backpack?" Ramona offered, picking up her own backpack to demonstrate what she meant. "Tugging this way sends you to the right, et cetera? Jetboots and gloves seem like they'd be less intuitive, more prone to accidents."
