Choose Your Own Adventure: Tuesday, 3rd Period (6/14)

Today's background music: songs to roleplay combat encounters to.

"So, the big event's next week," Steph told everyone when it looked like they were all assembled. "Hope you're all prepared and, furthermore, getting psyched for it. We'll be meeting in the park for that, so come prepared with all your gear. Now's your last chance to hash stuff out together and do the major work on your props and things -- though you can totally take stuff home with you and put on whatever finishing touches you want between now and then. For those of you who want to have some fun with combat encounters, you'll have your chance to do that. For those of you who don't? I got you covered. You can avoid that as hard as you want to without having to go too far out of your way to do it."

She gestured toward the craft tables.

"So let's get to it! I'm here to field any questions you might still have, or help you out with any more character stuff."

Libby was pretty satisfied with the state of all her stuff at the moment; years and years of being crafty and helping the Little with their own make-believe left her in a pretty good spot when it came to props and costumes. So she was mostly in the process of taking all the random things she'd brought with her to class that day that she'd picked up since Sunday and placing them randomly into all of her various pockets and pouches.

It was too bad this class happened before her Aquatic Arts one, but you can bet that seashells would be added to the miscellany later.

You just had to put it in the narrative, didn't you, Steph?

Because cue Graham not realizing that he had, in fact, glued himself to one of the fancy arrows he was making, until it was too late and all he could do was flop his hand around with an arrow stuck to hi fingers and considering a last-minute alteration to his character. But he wasn't sure if Sir Arrowfingers would really hit the mark...

"So is this a character choice, or do I need to bust out the bottle of nail polish remover?" asked Steph as tactfully as she could.

Graham took a few more moments to futilely attempt to shake the foam arrow off his fingers, gave it a few experimental tugs, even bent over a moment to place the arrow between his boot and the floor and tried to dislodge it like that.

He came back up, holding his cap in place with his non-arrowed hand.

"I think I can work with it," he decided.

It felt like the slightly less embarrassing choice.

"Sometimes the best character development comes out of the most unexpected things," Steph allowed after the briefest hesitation. "That might get kind of inconvenient out of character though."

Graham gave this a good deal of consideration.

"I have been meaning to work on my ambitexterity," he said, with another arrow-wobbling flap of his hand. "But....just on case, this....nail polish remover thing....how's that work? Hypothetically speaking."

"You pretty much just dab some around the edges of where the glue is so it dissolves the glue," Steph replied. "It's a little slow going, but eventually you should be able to peel it off your fingers."

A beat.

"But not peeling your actual fingers. Maybe a little bit of skin?"

Guillermo was was putting the finishing touches on his cape and that was mostly making sure there were as many sequins and glitter as he could get on it.

He was also making a bit of a mess of everything and he had definitely somehow managed to get sequins stuck in his hair.

Vi had spent most of yesterday in bed sleeping off a bug, and probably should still be there, but she felt bad about missing work, and didn't want to miss Steph's class too.

Never mind that she was about this far from zonking out on a pile of craft supplies.

At least maybe nearly zonking out on a pile of craft supplies might mean Vi would miss the somewhat withering, disapproving look on the face of someone who suspected she definitely should still be in bed and was absolutely picking up some care supplies on the way back to their room later.

Vi was just used to powering on through, and was maybe also belatedly realising that sneaking out after your roomie left so you didn't worry them didn't work so great when you shared both your classes that day.

Yeah, that might have been just a small hitch in that plan...

Libby wasn't going to say anything, but she figured her occasional lingering glances to check in on Vi whilst stuffing her pouches with random junk would do all the talking for her.

Vi was in fact hearing her loud and clear, and would probably head back to their room after this class.

Yeah, sorry not sorry, Vi, but you were going to get a little ganged up on about this here.

"You look awful," Steph said, her tone equal parts of their usual give-each-other-shit energy and genuine concern. "You should be in bed right now."

Vi was definitely feeling ganged up on.

"But class?" She tried protesting, because it had definitely felt important not to miss it. "And I already missed work."

"If you had showed up at work yesterday looking this miserable I would have sent you home immediately," Steph replied. "You need to be resting, Vi."

"I guess..." V argued, mostly for the sake of arguing, because bed sounded awfully tempting.

"Besides," Steph went on because she wasn't above playing dirty here, "Pride's this weekend, and I'm playing on Saturday night, remember? So I kinda need you feeling better for that."

That was playing incredibly dirty, Steph. Look, see, this was Vi's betrayed face.

"Okay, I'm going, you don't need to rub it in."

"Who else is gonna help me haul my drums to the park?" Steph grinned at her, then shifted to a more serious look. "Thank you. I wouldn't be a hardass about it if I didn't worry about you."

Look, if Vi was going to make sure she ate regularly, it was only fair for Steph to return the favor.

That was completely different, that was Vi taking care of someone else.

"Yeah, I know."

Look, it wasn't like Steph could be in the dorms to personally make sure that Vi was in bed getting some rest, so trying to get her to take care of herself was the best she could do.

"I'll have the rest of the craft supplies at the shop for the next week if you need to come in and do any more work on your stuff." Steph reached out to nudge her shoulder gently. "Go, get your ass to bed."

Vi had a cranky roomie for that part.

"I'm going, I'm going." She reached out to catch and squeeze Steph's hand. "You're so bossy."

And Steph had noticed that particular series of disapproving looks, which was why she wasn't too worried about making sure Vi stayed in bed.

"Only because I care, dumbass," she said with a soft laugh, and gave Vi's hand a really quick squeeze back before letting go. "Plus I am your boss, so I get to be."

Not that either of them was on the clock right now but pfft.

"Right, forgot that part," Vi said as she pushed away from the table.

"That's because I only play that card with you when I absolutely have to," Steph called after her, watching for a moment or two before she turned her attention back to the rest of the class.

To be fair, 'when she absolutely had to' really just meant 'when she could be a smartass by pointing it out.'

Kurt was spending the class putting final touches on the ears and tail he had made and debating whether or not four throwing daggers were enough to go with the rapier sword? Should he make a few more? You couldn't ever have too many throwing daggers right?

Yang's axe was finished, she was just going to wear her own clothes (though with a more fantasy-flare), and was mostly just noodling her character concept in her notebook. Though if anyone needed advanced prop-making help, she was totally down to help.

If there was one thing she was good at that wasn't fighting, it was building.

Belle was decorating the outside of a blank leather book today, thinking perhaps it might be a spell book for her character to have come across.

If nothing else she would have a lovely journal to write in eventually.

She's here for that!

My brainpower levels are so low this week. I hate it, thanks.
