Weaponry; Wednesday, Second Period [01/05].
With winter seemingly have arrived in Fandom full swing by now, hopefully the mid-morning trip to a bright sunny day in the Danger Shop would be welcome. Because that was where the class would be meeting, on a vast open stretch of green to be used for a training grounds, with a forest and a castle on a hill (it's only a model!) in the background because Amaya was just that level of dork. The banners and practice dummies definitely gave the space a bit of a tournament field, but the real stars of the show, obviously, were the tables and racks of a wide variety of weapons behind the two teachers standing there ready to greet the students.
Well, one of the teachers was ready to greet the students, anyway, and she was the one who would be doing most of the talking.
"Good morning, everyone!" Amaya started, with a nod and a pump of her fist. "And welcome to your first Weaponry class! My name's Amaya Blackstone, local blacksmith, and this here beside me is Rosa Diaz, local detective. I'm an expert at making the weapons, she's the expert in using them, and this class intends to utilize both our skills to give you an in-depth knowledge on how to use a variety of them, everything from your basic swords to somethings a little more complex, like your atlatls or your trebuchets. And here in the Danger Shop, we don't even need to worry about anyone losing more eyes or limbs than they may have already had. I will also mention that this course is going to mostly cover pre-modern weaponry, as I'm pre-modern myself, though if there's ever a week where I'm unable to make it, Diaz will likely take the lead on something more modern, like your guns and explosives and what have you.
"But before we get to know the weapons," she continued, "we'd like to get to know you--"
"She," Rosa interrupted with a correction, "would like to get to know you. I couldn't actually care less."
It was very important that they understood the distinction after all, and Amaya grinned a little, and adjusted. "I would like to get to know. Besides, Introductions are pretty much customary around here for the first week, and I'm seeing at least a few new faces here today! We're going to give it a little bit of a Weaponry spin, though. Behind me, as you can see, we've got all sorts of weapons already laid out, and I'd like everyone to take some time to look through them and consider them. Even if you're not that familiar with them, I'd like you to go ahead and pick out one that you think represents you. Then, you'll go ahead and tell us all your name and why you picked that weapon and how you think it represents who you are.
"If you could," she added, "letting us know what expeceriences you've had with weapons thus far would be mighty helpful, too, so we know what sort of experience levels we're working with. Also, if there are any weapons or types of weapons you're particularly hopeful about learning about, I'd love to hear that, too, because we've got a lot to choose from, and your thoughts may help us narrow it down a little to what we decide to actually feature.
"So, any questions before we begin?"

She turned her attention to the other teacher, who was also ready with her own choice, giving it a little expert twirl in her hand. "My hammer," she said. "Because it, like me, is more tool than weapon, though it'll certainly do in a pinch! Truth be told, when push comes to shove, I tend to just use the weapons I came with," she grinned as she lifted up a curled fist, and I think that's pretty fitting, as well. You use what you got.
"So now that you've got an idea of what we mean," she offered, "go ahead, see what you like, and then tell us who you are, why you picked what you did, your weapons experience, and if there's anything in particular you're excited to learn more about."

"Um ... hey I'm Guillermo de la Cruz," he said with what becoming his normal wave when he was introducing himself. "I'm a freshman and I'm from New York City, the Bronx and it's the year 2004 where I am," he added and there was a pause as he said, "um does LARPING count as weapons experience?" he tried.

Kurt walked up to the collection of weapons and eyed them for a moment. Then his eyes lit up as they fell on a grouping of blades. Reaching out with his tail, he grabbed one off the wall and gave it a little toss in the air. He reached out and caught the hilt with his hand before doing the same with a second blade and catching it in his other hand.
"I've always been partial to épée blades myself," he said as he turned around and struck a little pose with the blades as he did before each practice session with Logan back at the Academy. "Rapiers and sabers too. They are all really nice and easy to wield."
