The Ever-Changing Facets of Reality, Monday, Second Period
"I hope none of you get stage fright," Vanessa said, "because this week you're going to have to sing for your supper!"
She also hoped at least one of you could carry a tune in a bucket, but that might be asking too much of the universe.
"Well, not literally, because they won't let us starve you any more than they'll let us kick you off the island."
"We could give it the ol' college try, though," Wade suggested. You know. Helpfully. "But today is a singing contest. Who will win? Who will lose? Who will be a joke for years to come, but still somehow make that green?"
"Who will try to sing a Christina Aguilera song but not have the range?" Vanessa wondered.
"Tough luck, that's the music you've all been assigned." The teachers were just cruel.
"That's right, it's Christina Aguilera week here on American Idol! Fandom Idol? Whatever. You have to get on stage and sing for a live studio audience! And Simon Cowell." Okay, they were all holograms, but details. "And remember, you can't just stand there and sing. Points will be awarded for performance quality."
"Ooo, can we program those chairs from The Voice too?" Wade asked. Because that would make this so much more fun. For the teachers mostly.
Vanessa started fiddling with the remote for the Danger Shop. "Let's find out!" Not to add anything to the class. Just so they could spin around.
