Office Hours (Friday, 1/27/2006)

Jenny had trudged through the snow, bundled up in a pair of jeans, a thick sweater and a jacket over that, and her face had been practically hidden by a scarf and a cap. All of which were dripping off a coatstand in the corner of her office.

She was only here so Elizabeth could make up her missing Psych 101 class, and so that her Magical Theory students could update her on their progress.

Elizabeth was still well wrapped up in her scarf and gloves when she knocked on the door to Ms Calendar's office.

"Come on in!" exclaimed Jenny. Her laptop was still booting up and she was settling the rug from the inside of her office underneath the coat rack. Being largely paperless meant that she didn't have any newspaper to put underneath her coat. Sometimes being a technopagan wasn't a walk in the park. Especially if there was no wireless internet access in the park.

"I should've cancelled," said Jenny. "But I didn't realize how bad it was 'til I was halfway here, so what would've been the point of turning around and heading home, right?" She nodded at the coffeepot, which was just finishing up a fresh batch of coffee. "Coffee?"

"At the risk of corrupting the youth of today?" Jenny's eyes twinkled. "I'll just go knock on my boyfriend's door and stay the night with him. Much more fun, don't you think? So you drink your coffee black, or do you water it down with cream and sugar?"

Elizabeth took the cup gratefully, cupping it and smiling at her teacher. "Thanks," she said. "So... I'm guessing from the test, I missed out on the brain on Tuesday."

Elizabeth shrugged. "I think I did okay. I did a bit of extra reading and mun went to the library and actually got an introductory text to psych..., so I'm hoping that would have helped."

"Depending on how much you want to focus on history, you could study the transformational magic of Dr. Oliver's time and see if it ties into similar magic of your time. Or, y'know, not if you want to take a different tack with it."

Jenny pretended to think. "No, as a matter of fact, I don't think we are," she said. She shouldered her laptop case and grabbed her coat, scarf and hat, then went over to the door to take his hand. "Wanna take me away from it all to someplace warm?"
