Prophecy in Theory and Practice, Tuesday, Second Period (10/30)
Tuesday, October 30, Second Period
Upon entering the classroom, students will notice that there's a blond man sitting in a chair next to Aziraphale's, and that the pair are engaged in quiet conversation. Those who are enrolled in Wilson's class, or who have frequented The Devil's Nest may recognize the man. Once everyone is assembled, Aziraphale stands and sets aside the teacup he was holding, giving everyone a warm smile.
"I know that I said you'd have a test today, but we're putting that off until next week. Instead, we have a guest lecturer who will be sharing his perspective on prophecies, and on what's it's like to be part of one. He's also been kind enough to agree to take some questions after. First, however, we're going to have a brief lecture on a rather famous work of prophecy that is particularly relevant to today's class."
Aziraphale launched into a quick discussion on The Revelation to John. When he finished, he turned and beamed at the other man. "Now, I'd like to introduce Lucifer Morningstar, although I expect that for some of you, the introduction is unnecessary. Oh, and when it comes time for questions, do please make an effort to keep them on topic.
He stepped aside to give the floor to the guest speaker.
"Prophecies are a crutch for the weak, in my experience," Lucifer started out, ever cheerful. He glanced out at the class, not as if he cared if they paid attention or not, but to simply look. It wouldn't be polite to ignore them all while he spoke. "Your kind in particular has the tendency to allow such little predictions to run your lives. They only have the power over you that you allow them."
"Your destiny is and always has been your own. Even He has a rather... hands off approach to mortals to allow this to remain so." There might have been the smallest of eye rolls at the mention of Him. Barely noticible really. "All your kind needs is simply the wisdom or the courage to do things on your own. Something, I believe, that is much harder than it would appear."
When Lucifer had finished, Aziraphale addressed the class again. "Use the rest of the class period to ask questions, or to study for next week's test. And if you have any questions for me, you may catch me after class. Also, you may want to consider brushing up on your divination skills, because we'll be doing an extra-credit project in two weeks, on November 20more information to come later. Consider that your homework for the day, if you like."
[ooc:Please wait for the OCD is up and class is in session. And many thanks to
